Doing | I have been doing a whole lot of letting go. I'm not sure what it is, but something has just clicked in my brain/body. I'm done being completely stressed out about pretty much everything. I am slowing learning that things are what they are and if I can improve it, good, if I can't, move on.
Thinking | The husband's new job seems to be going well. He works four 12-hour shifts then he is off for four days. Shifts are 6am to 6pm and switch to 6pm to 6am every month. He just started his month of night shifts this week. It's a little strange.
Reading | Oh lord... uh yeah. Not much. I've been reading up on my tarot book, but that's about it.
Watching | All the things! I desperately wish that TV networks would space out when shows return for the "season". Every Fall I struggle to figure out what to watch, what to record, what to skip. I know, I know... #firstworldproblem.
Eating | September was pretty hectic and eating well was, unfortunately, not a big priority. We ate quite a few frozen pizzas and hot dogs. Hopefully, I can get myself organized again and being doing meal plans.
**Recipe I think you'd like: Frito Chili Pie from the Pioneer Woman. Husband and son wanted chili so I made this. They didn't eat it with the chips, but I threw some in a bowl, topped it with chili and gobs of cheese! By itself, it still made a nice tasting chili.
Weather | A little bit of cool weather, a little bit of warm weather. Definite prayers for all those living in South Carolina with too much water and those living in California with too little.
Work In Progress | I'm working on a Heirloom Chevron Throw.

Doing: I finally finished my Boneyard Shawl! I won a skein of Caterpillar Green yarn in the Concrete and Tulip colorway from one of Taiga Hilliard's Instagram giveaways back in June. The yarn is AH-MA-ZING. It's a wool, cashmere, nylon blend and it's oh so soft. It's also a self striping yarn that is perfect for this shawl pattern.
Listening, eating, loving, watching: I'm totally lumping all of these into the same category because yesterday was the first band show of the year!!! It was just a preview show, as the official season hasn't started, but it was a great trial run. I love seeing and hearing all the bands. But this does mean that I'll be eating quite a lot of food that isn't good for me. Yesterday I ate mainly Snickers and donuts.
Weather: The weather has been amazing! It's starting to get a little hotter though and with that comes humidity. Boo.
Thinking: We visited an ENT about Neil's broken nose (that the ER said wasn't broken) this week. He said that if we had come to see him within 2-3 days he could have just push it back over, but because it had been 15 days, he couldn't. Since he is still in the middle of soccer season, he suggested we schedule an appointment in six weeks and see about fixing it then. Neil was so excited that he wouldn't have to miss any games that I didn't have the heart to tell him they will likely re-break his nose in six weeks.
Next week will be insanity. Three soccer games, a band fundraiser, a homecoming football game, and probably a little of some other strange happenings. But in the midst of all of this craziness, a little light at the end of the tunnel... Chris got that new job. He doesn't start until September 8th though.

Doing: I'm doing a lot of finger crossing. Chris put in an application at the aluminum recycling plant in our town last week. He's done the interview and signed papers, but he still has a physical and drug test to do, scheduled for next week. This job will pay more and offer insurance benefits as well as retirement 401k. The next week or so is going to creep by until we hear if he has been officially hired or not.
Thinking: The first home football game of the season was Friday. The band boosters run the concessions for the games while the band plays during time outs and half time. It was a first for myself as well as a few of the other ladies. We didn't really have any idea what to expect, but at the end of the night, it was a success. I'm thinking that the rest of the home season will be just as successful!
Watching: Today I watched my four year old daughter be so excited with herself. We've had a mouse that has refused to be caught. He's tripped a couple of traps FOUR times and not been caught. He's sneaky, stealthy, brazen. Earlier this week, he walked across my chaise chair in the living room when I was sitting on the couch. The next day, as I was getting that four year old out of the bath tub, he struggled to drag a Sour Patch Kid across the kitchen floor... right in front of us! We had enough and my husband bought sticky traps today. This afternoon Rowan came into the living room from her room, huge smile on her face.
"I killed the mouse! I killed the mouse!"
My husband and I looked at each other, looked back at her. "Uh... where?"
"In my room! I killed it with my foot."
Surely, we thought, she's joking. No. No, she was not. The mouse came from behind her bookshelf and stopped, looking at her. So she jumped down and "stomped it with my left foot". ERMAHGERD.
My daughter is a mouse murderer.
Eating: We've been eating a lot of frozen pizzas and not-so-good-for-you food. Between soccer games, football games, and various practices, we've just not been home to eat a better meal.
Loving the weather: I can smell Fall y'all! I'm sure it's seen as cliche, but it really is my favorite season. Always has been. I'm a big lover of football and bonfires, however, I am not a pumpkin spice latte fan or an Ugg boot fan so I suppose it evens out.

Doing: Like whoa. I've been doing quite a bit of running because "Back to School" y'all. Band practices, soccer practices, preschool evaluations, booster meetings for band and soccer, ... trip to the ER because my son played in his first ever soccer game (it was actually a scrimmage game) as the goalie in the JV game and while diving to save the ball, got knee'd in the face by the opposing player. Broken nose. FIRST EVER SOCCER GAME. Thank goodness I was at a booster meeting and did not witness this or the fact that he continued to play, finished the JV game and started in the varsity game.
Thinking: I'm very sad about the loss of some trees from the church next door. They are building an addition that will be a rec center not only for the use of the church, but for the community too. I just had no idea they were going to be tearing down so many of the trees and it makes me very sad. If you follow me on IG, you've seen the video of the last oak being felled. I did get a message from the pastor letting me know that that specific tree has some issues and probably would have died in a few years, but it still hurt my heart and I did shed some tears. So now, I've been thinking about what/when/where to plant new trees in our side yard in the Spring.
Reading: I'm still reading What Lies in the Darkness by K. L. Cottrell. I've just been so busy that I've not had much time to relax and read. Or knit and that's just sad. I did a little knitting and a little reading, but not as much as I should have.
Watching: We put our Dish Network subscription on pause back in May. Did you know that was possible? I didn't, but when I called to cancel, the operator told me about this service. It's basically just paying $5 +tax every month so you don't have to repay to restart your service if you want to do so after the pause. You can chose to pause your service for 3-, 6-, or 9-months. We were paying almost $100 a month. It just wasn't a necessity. However, my in-laws recently told us about Sling Tv. It's just $20 +tax per month. It has nearly every tv station that we regularly watched! ESPN, A&E, HGTV, Syfy, Disney Channel, and more. We are trying it out for now on our new gifted-to-us Roku stick. So far it's pretty awesome. The only drawback is that you can only stream to one device at a time right now.
AND! It's preseason football time for the NFL! Woooooo!
Loving: I am loving that my dad is back from his visit to Florida! He was planning a trip anyway, but this one just ended up being a little more spur of the moment than he would have liked. I really wish the whole family could meet somewhere in the middle every year just to visit with each other and catch up.
Weather: The weather has been surprisingly pleasant for the middle of August. Not very humid or rainy, jusssst right. But... (there is always a "but"...) we are expecting rain chances every day next week. The rain doesn't bother me, the humidity is gross.

Thinking: No more telling ourselves that we will go visit my family next vacation. We will actually do it next year.
Listening: Cicadas. I guess they are in one of their cycles, but they are everywhere in the evenings and LOUD!!!
Reading: I am desperately trying to catch up on my reading. According to GoodReads, I am four books behind schedule on my reading challenge. Ack. I started and finished Fablehaven by Brandon Mull this week. It was a decent fantasy book, but the brother, Seth, is a punk. Last week I won a giveaway of a signed copy of the book What Lies in the Darkness by K. L. Cottrell. I've only just begun reading it.
Watching: I'm doing a lot of sitting in my car watching my son at soccer practice. I tried to get out and sit on the bleachers. There are dive bombing red wasps and little gnats that BITE! I looked like some crazy person flailing my arms around every few minutes. Now I totally envy cows with swishy tails.
Eating: Dang it... I forgot to write a post about that chicken!
Weather: Pretty hot, humid. This hot then rainy then hot weather has really taken a toll on our tomatoes. They are splitting and rotting. We are able to salvage some as long as we pick them as soon as they begin to turn orange and then let them ripen on a window sill. I made a couple of pints of black bean salsa on Friday afternoon. I haven't tried it yet though.
Doing: Thursday afternoon we found out that one of my nieces committed suicide. I have never been close to any of my five half brothers. They all lived in Florida while I grew up here in Kentucky. I only met my niece, Kiana, once. We hadn't been down there since 2006. It doesn't seem like it has been nine years. My dad, who lived down there for many years before moving back to KY, is heartbroken. He left early Friday to drive straight down there. I've been doing a lot of crying then feeling guilty for being so sad and crying. I barely knew her. I'm crying because I never had the chance. I'm crying because I'm a mother. I'm crying because it still hurts. It is hard to find words.

CURRENTLY :: July 19th
I love the Sunday Lately idea, but I noticed that I wouldn't always have prompts available for the next week. So I'm going to make a couple of changes and go back to doing Currently posts. I'm going to be using the same prompts every week. I think it will be easier. I like the idea of a post on Sundays to recap the week. I won't be hosting a link-up at this time, but I'd love to see others posts too so be sure to comment and leave your blog address!
The prompts I'll be using will be from the following: doing, thinking, listening, reading, watching, eating, loving, weather, enjoying... I might not use every prompt every week and you don't have to either. Feel free to add new ones as well if they fit your week. I might just steal your prompts for my next week!
Doing: Cleaning. I've been doing a lot of cleaning. Mostly it was that back room/laundry room. Completely cleaned out and empty now. I would like to pull our dining room table up from the basement and put it in there. Our actual dining room is a bed room now, but that's a whole different blog post.
Thinking: I've been thinking about starting back up with my PostCrossing post card exchange. I haven't sent any cards out in almost a year. I didn't realize it had been so long and I'm kicking my own ass for being gone for so long. It's actually very fun.
Reading: This Dark Endeavor by Kenneth Oppel. It is about a young Victor Frankenstein.
Watching: The Whispers. It is crazy, but I can't stop watching. Also The Astronaut Wives Club. It's more about the clothes and decor and less about the astronauts. I usually avoid all things ABC because they seem to have a bad habit of cancelling shows that I really like, but these two are pretty good.
Eating: Pesto. The basil plants in my garden are producing more than I would have ever imagined when I first planted them. NOT eating the jalapenos that we've canned because... holy shit Batman, these suckers are HOT, HOT, HOT. And we are overrun with them. I just canned six more jars on Thursday!
Loving: PlayDoh. Rowan has discovered the joy of PlayDoh. It is partly my fault that she hasn't played with it in the past. It's kind of messy. So I've always avoided letting her play with it, but I've let her have what we had on hand this week. It's been hours, HOURS, of her sitting, playing, creating, and loving her PlayDoh.
Weather: The beginning of the week was a little scary. Severe storms, hot and humid, flooding. We were so lucky in our half of Kentucky as we missed the major storms. I'm trying not to complain about the heat too much because I'm still trying to get over all the freakin' snow we had this past Winter.
Enjoying: The air conditioner. With the temperatures being so hot and the humidity being so high, walking into a nice cool house is definitely a blessing. However, I am dreading what next months electric bill is going to look like.
Do you know what I like about a Currently post? I can work on it throughout the week. Like when I won the book giveaway. I realized I could add that into this post. Yeah, I think I'm going to like it this way.

I took a brief vacation from Currently posts for the month of June, but I'm back!
I have been craving some outdoor time. On Sunday, Chris decided he wanted to go fishing and asked if I wanted to go with him. Usually I let him go by himself because I get bored. This time though I grabbed my book and knitting and went.
I was recently elected secretary of the high school band boosters. I have no idea what I'm doing. This past weekend we had the monthly pork loin sale. The boosters set up a huge grill with fold out canopies and tables and sell grilled pork loin sandwich sack lunches. Parents donate canned drinks and homemade desserts and the whole shebang is only $5. This was my first experience working at a sale and the first time the new board members had a chance to work together. I have a feeling that this year of fundraising is going to be exciting.
I've been doing too much thinking. I'm just a worrier. Always stressed and freaked out. Usually it's about money. Or the lack of it really.
I am loving the garden. Twice I have been able to go out and pick fresh green beans before supper. Don't even get me started on the basil. It's growing amazingly well and I couldn't be happier. All the tomato plants are covered in tomatoes, but they are all still green. Some of them are the size of softballs.
I have been trying to get some reading in every night before I go to sleep. It's hard to find some peacefulness during the day to pay attention to what I'm reading. Currently, it's Hollow City by Ransom Riggs. It is the second book in the Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children series.
Currently link up that was previously hosted by Kale + Beans and OT & ET is being retired. *sad face* I love playing a little game of catch up with a Currently post every week so I'll be on the look out for new prompts to use from here on out.

Hey you guys! I swear I did not fall off the Earth. This week was the last week of school for my kids so we were sort of busy with that. Plus I've been knitting and reading and being kind of lazy. So I'm sneaking in a Currently post before the week is over.
I'm watching Bones on Netflix right now. I used to watch it all the time, but stopped for some reason that I don't even remember. I'm trying to get as caught up as I can.
We are dealing with the "why" stage of Ro's life. Why is the sun out? Why is it cloudy? Why do we go pee? What is a butthole? (After her sister called her a butthole.)
I'm dreaming of harvesting veggies from our garden! We finally got a decent little garden going and I go outside daily to see how much everything has grown.
I am trying to commit to reading more. I am so behind on my challenge of 25 books. Can you believe that it's almost June!?!?
Reading: I finished reading Witches of East End. So different from the show, but still a good book. I lucked out and found Prince Lestat at the library and was the first to check it out. There is something oddly pleasing about being the first person to check out a new book.

this week:
tasting, wearing, working, checking, playing
I have not been tasting too much this week. I'm trying to keep it bland-ish. I don't want to upset my stomach too much. I want to let it get used to not having a gallbladder. However, I have been eating more and more "normal" foods to test the waters. I even had some bacon that my husband made sure to cook a little more than I usually like it and then he even made sure to soak up as much grease as he could. Told me he just loved me that much. Awww...
I am wearing all the yoga pants and all the lose fitting shirts. I would say this is because of the surgery, but I wear these more than I should on a regular basis anyway.
I have been letting others do all the working for me. My husband and son got the four corner posts set into the ground for the fencing around the garden, but that's as far as they have gotten and I am itching to get the rest of it done.
I was checking on my incision site way more than I should. I really, really, really wanted to take the dressing off so I could see what it looked like under there. But I waited like I was told to do... Finally removing it on Monday night. There is a picture over on Instagram if you want to check it out.
I have been playing online games a bit more than usual this week. When I have the time, usually on the weekends, I play Runescape. Since the little has been staying with my mom during the day so I could recover without chasing a toddler, I've been logging on more often.
Watching: Catching up on shows that I missed last week. Game of Thrones, Lost Girl, Bitten, Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., etc.
Reading: Ermahgerd, I HAVE been reading! Witches of East End.
next week:
watching, dealing, losing, dreaming, committing

Currently {Delayed Version}
Hey peeps! So... I had this sort of queued up to post because I thought by Thursday I'd be fine to write out a Currently post. I was mistaken. Horribly, horribly mistaken. I'm just going to do a quick little post here then work on a post about my surgical adventure for next week. I'm aiming for Monday, but I ain't makin' no guarantees.
Last week I did a lot of looking at gallbladder stuff online. What happens before surgery, after surgery... during surgery.
The day before my surgery the farmer sowed the fields next to and behind our house. I was outside with Ro when he started and we stood next to the house to watch him plant. He pulled right up to the fence and waved for us to come to the tractor then offered to let us ride along. Ro was loving it! If I'm honest, I did too. It was pretty fun.
I spent the majority of my time planning for my recovery situation. Getting everything set up in my bedroom. Which turned out to be stupid because I've spent the last few days posted up on my couch instead.
The garden is finally starting to show some sprouts! We are having some critters, probably rabbits, visit at night and eat our little green bean leaves. We're looking into putting up a fence of some kind to deter them for now.
Last week I was just wishing for Tuesday to get here so I could have the surgery and be done. Now I am wishing that I had just not done it!

Last week I was just wishing for Tuesday to get here so I could have the surgery and be done. Now I am wishing that I had just not done it!

Currently {May 7th}
this week:
bringing, running, listening, creating, buying
Bringing: At this moment, I am bringing myself to my pre-op appointment to get ready for my surgery on the 12th. I'm nervous. If I'm being totally honest, I'm actually pretty scared. At 36 years old, I've never had surgery. Never even had a broken bone. The only time I've ever been hospitalized was when my children were born. I've never been put to sleep. That's what is really bothering me. I'm just having my gallbladder removed, but still... I iz skeer'd.
Running: So far May has been a pretty active month for us. We've been running to pick up one or both of the older kids from afterschool activities. Neil has decided to try soccer this year and soon we'll be doing quite a bit more running for those games. Kaia is considering color guard for marching band next year so she's been staying after doing some practices for that.
Listening: I made an ambient station on my Pandora. It's so calming and relaxing. Helps to get the 3.5 year old to sleep faster.
Creating: Today? Nothing. This week? Lots of dresses. I haven't finished the knitted dress I'm working on yet though.
Buying: Actually we aren't buying anything other than the necessities right now. In fact, I just cancelled our satellite. We talked about doing it last year, but never did it. This year I didn't wait around for the husband to talk me out of it. I just called and did it. This will save us $90 a month.
Watching: I've started watching Daredevil on Netflix. I guess I'm a little behind. I love to geek-out on all things Marvel so this is good. And might I say that it's way better than the movie version.
Reading: I should probably just stop adding this prompt. However, I am going to the library on Saturday to look for some books. Surgery on Tuesday so I'm anticipating laying around for several days afterward and I'll need something to do.
next week:
looking, loving, planning, starting, wishing

Currently {April 30th}
I've been out of the currently game since... uh February?! I'm not sure what I did in the month of March or most of the month of April, but I think it mostly included knitting and coffee.
Trying: I've been trying to figure out what I had an allergic reaction to at the end of last week. I suddenly had some raised bumps appear just on my neck. They didn't itch, weren't red, or irritated, but I slowly began to feel them on one cheek, then my chin. By Sunday morning I was concerned enough to head to the emergency room. No, it wasn't an emergency, but 1) the bumps were spreading and 2) this ER is awesome. I know that sounds ridiculous, but I have never been to any medical office where the employees were more friendly and helpful than at this hospital and to be quite honest, I didn't want to wait in a waiting room at my unfriendly doctor's office. I was in and out of the ER in under an hour with a Claritin and some oral steroids and the bumps were gone the next day. Bless it.
Eating: Smaller portions. I don't want to have any more pain self inflicted because I ate the wrong thing or too much of anything and make my gallbladder mad at me before I've visited the doctor about that too. I'm falling apart people.
Wearing: Dresses. I recently got an amazing deal on a dress from eShakti. They were having a 40% off sale and I had a $40 off coupon. Scored a dress for less than $30.
I love it! It fits very well and the flare on the skirt is great plus... pockets. It has pockets!! I'm always happy when the Sun makes it's appearance and the weather warms so I can wear more dresses.
Going: Other than doctors and dentists, I'm not going too far. Gas prices are sad. So sad.
Making: I'm very much wanting to start making a few dresses for myself and some peasant tops/dresses and pants for my youngest. I just printed out some updated patterns this week. Now I need to carve out some "me" time so I can be alone with my sewing machine.
Watching: Just finished Netflixing the crap out of The 100. I hadn't watched any of the show before and got completely sucked in. I almost want to stop watching shows until the entire season is out so I can binge watch them instead.
Reading: Ha... no.

this weeks themes:
wondering, running, winning, calling, finishing
Wondering: We keep getting the short end of the stick around here! Not that I am wishing for New England blizzards, but can a sista not get a few snow days?! We've had one measurable snowfall this year and it was gone the next day. Last night we were supposed to get only an inch, but when I got up this morning..... one snowflake. That's what was in my yard.
Running: Wait... are there zombies!? 'Cause that's the only reason I'm going to be running anywhere.
Winning: I'm winning at jump-starting my Spring cleaning. I thinned out the toddler's toys and clothes this week. As long as I could keep her out of the room, it was easy. If she happen to wander in.... I'd put 2 things in the tub and she'd take 5 out.
Calling: I'm going to be calling the electric company. We had a crazy bill last month and this month's bill is even more, but last month we applied for (and received) assistance for our bill. However, it's been almost a month and the electric company hasn't applied it to our account so they want us to pay almost $800. Uh... nerp. I'm going to try to keep my cool when I call them.
Finishing: I'm finishing TONS of knitting projects! I have been burning up my needles this year. So far I have done four projects and will finish the fifth one this weekend. This is pretty much why I haven't been around the blog world. I've already ordered a ton of yarn for future projects. Psst... don't tell my husband.
Watching: The 4400. This is an old show that aired from 2004-2007 on USA. I loved it. I was so bummed when it was cancelled without finishing the story. I hate it when networks do that! So I'm binge watching it again.
Reading: ... ... ... still reading Interview with the Vampire. HOWEVER, I have made time (and progress!) to read so I'm about halfway through.

I've had really busy hands. Just not busily typing on the internet. I have been knitting ALL THE THINGS. After the pillow, I did my first seamless sweater!
It took between 4 to 5 days and turned out nearly perfect! Rowan has already asked me if I would make her another sweater. I finally started on a memory blanket of mitered squares using little balls of stash yarn from previous (and future!) projects. There is probably so much more I should be doing, like dishes....
This weeks themes:
starting, looking, listening, snapping, making
Starting: I have started my first pair of knitted socks! Finally doing a knitting project for myself for a change. They are from the same pattern collection as the sweater I knitted for Rowan. Called The Simple Collection from Tin Can Knits, there are 8 FREE patterns to help new knitters, like myself, get used to some of the basics of knitting.
Looking: We've been looking at new kitchen cabinets, bath tubs/surrounds, etc. Our bathroom is hideous and the kitchen isn't much better. The cabinets are custom built and while that sounds awesome... it's not. None of them are the same, doors barely close properly, lots of wasted space. But buying new cabinets means buying new countertops, new floors, new dishwasher. You get the idea. Lots of research will be required.
Listening: Rowan has really started to have the cutest little pretend conversations between her stuffed animals and little toys. The other day I was listening to her line up all her Care Bears and they were all at the doctor's office being seen for different things.
Snapping: I've been snapping at my oldest daughter quite a bit lately. She seems to know just how to push all the buttons. I feel bad for snapping at her, but she has the most horrible attitude. I feel like no matter what I do, say, or try, she could care less.
Making: I'm making big plans to get back on the meal planning wagon. I want to try for monthly shopping instead of doing week to week. This will definitely require a lot of planning on my part, but in the end I think it will work.
Reading: Sadly, I am still reading the same book that I've been "reading" for about a month. I haven't actually read a page in quite a while. Maybe I should do that....
Watching: Agent Carter! I'm a geek, if you hadn't noticed, and I love all these Marvel movies/tv shows. Avengers, Thor (but really I love Loki), Iron Man, Captain America, Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., etc. And I love how they all have little pieces of the others in them somewhere. When I saw that ABC was going to be having a show about the awesome Agent Carter from Captain America, I knew I had to watch. I'm already bummed that there will only be 8 episodes though.

This weeks themes:
resolving, planning, cleaning, leaving, thinking
Resolving- To be more crafty this year. It's not an official resolution, just something I'd like to do for myself. I don't feel like I completed enough projects as I could have.
Planning- I'm not really planning too much right now. The hubs just found out that he has a hiatal hernia so he's had to take a few vacation days. How long he has to take off will determine if we'll be able to take a vacation this year. Hopefully surgery won't be required.
Cleaning- I did a big scrub on our funk-tastic bathroom. It has wood paneling, no vent so the paint (that the previous occupant used) is peeling from the ceiling because... moisture. It's not the worst thing up in dis ol' hizzouse, but it's definitely the most embarrassing.
Leaving- The car payments behind! Just as soon we file our income taxes in February....
Thinking- I would really like to find a location that has weather that alternates between Fall and Summer. This cold is no bueno. I don't care for Spring either so yeah.... I'm over Winter.
Reading- Knit patterns. I still have my book sitting on my bedside table, but I'd like to start and finish a project once a month so I don't know when I'll read. I just finished these super cute little bell bottom pants for my friend's daughter. She turns 1 on the 14th!
Watching- I love Josh Gates. I loved watching Destination Truth on SyFy, but it got cancelled. Boo!! Hiss!! Now he has new show on the Travel Channel called Expedition Unknown. First episode aired this week and he was searching for Amelia Earhart. SPOILER: He doesn't find her, but I'm still excited about this show!

This week's themes:
loving, reading, choosing, designing, wondering
Loving: I am loving that Christmas break is just around the corner! Instead of getting up at 6:15am, I'll get to sleep until 7am instead.
Reading: Still reading Interview with the Vampire because I've been knitting and not reading. And while I've been knitting, I've been watching Call the Midwife on Netflix. I LOVE THIS SHOW. How have I not been watching before now?!?! It's addictive from the very first episode.
Choosing: Choosing to ignore the husband's television choices this week. Apparently the WWE decided to have a big all week long to-do. So that's what has been on my tv. I'm so lucky.
Designing: I'm always designing something in my head for the house. Mostly it's things I can't afford to do, but dream a little dream.
Wondering: ... if we'll get a white Christmas. We usually don't have much in the way of snow, but it's always nice to see a little dusting on Christmas.
No themes for next week because... duh Christmas!!

Duuuuuudde... how is it already the middle of December?!? Does not compute.
Since I used this week's prompts last week when everyone was down with the sickness, I'm just using some random prompts this week and I'll get back into the regular swing next week!
Listening: Still jamming every chance I get to Christmas music on Pandora. We bought a soundbar last year to go in front of our TV and I can hook my tablet right up to it! It's great.
Eating: Cookies!! I've been making cookies galore the past few days. I even came up with a recipe that I'll be sharing in a couple of days. They're so yummy!! I'm sure someone else has probably already done this cookie, but I've not seen it so I'm totes gonna say it's mine all mine.
Wearing: Sweats, tshirts, yoga pants, etc. Gotta make room for all those cookies I'm baking (and then eating....).
Feeling: Quite a bit worried actually. Since my husband lost his very good job almost two years ago, we have struggled at Christmas time. Luckily, two of our three kids are old enough to understand. The other is still young and is happy no matter what. It still bothers me though.
Hoping: Is it bad that I am hoping for a bit of a white Christmas? Chances are only around 30%, I think. But still... just a little snow on Christmas then bring on warmer weather!!
Reading: I've started the first book in the Vampire Chronicles, Interview with the Vampire.
Watching: Chibs didn't die. Amen. Do you know how hard it was for me to delete Sons of Anarchy from my DVR schedule? Even though I watch several other shows, I feel so empty right now.

The ladies and babes that host the link up for this weekly get together are down with the sickness this week! Sending them healthy healing vibes!
Dancing: I've been wearing out the Christmas station Pandora. I have serious issues about my Christmas music. Burl Ives, Bing Crosby, Andy Williams, etc. None of that modern crap. I will knock people out of my way if Mariah Carey shows up on my Pandora Christmas station just so I can push that dislike/thumbs down button. Get that shit out of my station.
Cooking: Grilled cheese in our iron skillet. It's ah-maze-balls. We usually cook them in a sandwich maker, but really buttering them up in that cast iron skillet makes them soooo much better.
Losing: Rowan has been losing socks. Not whole pairs. Just one of each. Yesterday she lost two socks. And she wasn't bothered by her lack of a missing sock. She just continued on her way as if it was completely normal to only have on one sock.
Clearing: Slowly I've been clearing off knitting projects. It's hard to get things done when the person eventually receiving it is at the house. I have a few hours during the day to work on them. Today I finished some wrist warmers for Kaia. I can post it here because she doesn't read, but I was so excited and proud of them and couldn't share on my Instagram or Facebook!
Sharing: I can tell you what I am NOT sharing... my eggnog. I love eggnog. Not the alcoholic kind either. Purity brand eggnog or no eggnog at all. It's the bees knees.
Reading: I've decided I'm not going to make it to my goal of 25 books for the year. I nearly made it and I'm satisfied with what I did accomplish. With the release of the new Lestat book, I'm going to reread the first few book in the Vampire Chronicles series and then read the others for the first time. This will probably end up taking up most of the next year of book reading for me.
Watching: The last season of Sons of Anarchy. I can't believe it's going to be over after next week and I'm terrified of this last episode. All I want to say is please for the love of all things holy do not let Chibs die.

Currently {Thanksgiving Edition}
Are y'all stuffed? I'm completely stuffed. We've had three Thanksgiving dinners in a week. Not "we" as in {at our house}, but "we" as in we've eaten three different times in three different places. Could have been four places, but we were double booked on Thanksgiving Day.
Here are all the things we were picking, reading, watching, rushing, and planning this week!
Picking: I starting picking the foods that I was cooking for our dinner earlier this year than I have in the past. (I'm writing a post to share later...) Everything went surprisingly well except for the chess pie. Paula Deen doesn't know how long to cook a chess pie. Because of this fact, my pie was DIS-GUST-ING.
Reading: Cookbooks. Recipes. Just trying to find the easiest, but yummiest food ideas.
Watching: Football. Tons and tons of football. Listen... I love me some football, but I'm 4th and Done with all the football right now. Bring on the college basketball! C-A-T-S! BBN!
Rushing: I'm trying to not feel rushed with Christmas so close. I am so damn behind in gift shopping. I only have a couple of items. I'm seeing people that are already done. I hate them.
Planning: I'm hoping to do a little remodeling here on the blog. I've been planning and tweaking and I think it's close to being ready!

this weeks themes:
finding, writing, dressing, thinking, beginning
Finding: Glasses! I've worn glasses since I was in the 2nd grade. I've tried contacts, but every time my finger comes close to my eyeball? Nope. I found a couple of places online where I can order glasses, but...
I'm not sure about my parents, but as an adult I have never once been offered my prescription after an exam. I didn't even know I could ask for it. At my last exam, my prescription hadn't changed, but my insurance had. Under my current plan, the exam is covered, but the actual glasses are not. Because that makes SO MUCH SENSE. Anyway... I needed new glasses because my current pair are prone to just drop off my face occasionally, but I couldn't afford to fork over $200 for frames and another $200-300 for the lenses. Then my friend let me know that she'd never bought her glasses from her doctor and had never left after an exam without her prescription. I probably sound like a real dunce, but I had no idea. I promise I'm getting to the point here.... Kaia had an appointment this week and when I asked them for a copy of my prescription, they nearly fell out of their chairs. It got worse when I asked for a copy of Kaia's before we left.
The assistant came to the window and said, "Uh... you are aware that she's already picked out a pair of glasses, right?" I tried not to rip her head off and instead said, "Yes, she told me which ones she picked out. I'd still like a copy of her prescription please."
They made me feel like I was stealing and I didn't like it. Because she is under 18, her frames and lenses are covered, but when I go back for my next appointment, they are probably all going to have a heart attack when I leave with nothing but a slip of paper in my hand.
Writing: I don't do too much writing. As evidenced in the lack of posts on this here blog...
Dressing: When I read this all I think about is dressing/stuffing because it's Thanksgiving time! I have a confession to make... I hate dressing/stuffing. It feels like a rock in the pit of my stomach every time I eat it. I'm not very pilgrim-y apparently.
Thinking: I've been doing a lot of thinking about homeschool. It's no secret that my oldest daughter has been struggling with finding herself. Not to mention the relentless bullying of a few girls. Because of the shoplifting, she was assigned a court designated worker to defer her case and keep it out of the court system. As part of the deferral program, she was required to begin counseling. Her counselor asked her to begin keeping a journal. A place for her to write down her frustrations, thoughts, feelings. She accidentally left it at school when she went to the eye doctor and one of her "friends" found it. Instead of realizing what it was and keeping it safe for her until she returned (like a REAL friend would have done), the girl read it then turned it in to a teacher. Who read it himself before turning it over to the vice principal telling him that he needed to read it as well because there were things he should see. The vice principal DID NOT read it, but instead returned it to Kaia. But the damage was already done. Her trust was broken by the girl, by the teacher. Now I fear that she will think she can trust no one.
Beginning: I started on the beginning of three different scarves this week. I ended up getting very frustrated because I just couldn't seem to find the pattern that felt right for who the gift is for. Finally on the fourth pattern, I think I've got the one.
Reading: Uh... er.... yeah, still on The Ruins. However! I see that Anne Rice has come out with a new Lestat book!! I guess I need to re-read the Vampire Chronicles series.
Watching: Peaky Blinders, season 2 came out right before I finished season 1!
